While we were in Memphis, we walked down Beale Street, home of some great music, and music legends. We sat outside at a second story bar and watched the "goings on"; also had some authentic southern barbeque while in town. (yum!).

Country Music Hall of Fame, Nashville, TN
April 19, 2014
After walking through the Music City Walk of Fame Park, we went to the Country Music Hall of Fame. It's quite a building, and the memorabilia it houses is unbelievable. There were costumes, hand written lyrics, cars, and so many interesting things to see. This really requires several hours or more to see everything. One of the biggest surprises to both of us was to see how small many of the costumes were. Seeing those singers/musicians on TV for years, they looked so much bigger.

Grand Ole Opry, Nashville, TN
The Grand Ole Opry is a live radio show that's been on the air every week since 1925. Performances used to be at the Ryman Auditorium, but a new venue was built several years ago. The night we were there, we saw John Anderson, Little Jimmie Dickins, Aaron Tippin, and Lorrie Morgan.
Ryman Auditorium, Nashville, TN

We were so happy to be able to tour the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. For years, we've seen the stage and performers on TV, and heard them talking about performing on the stage at Ryman Auditorium. The Grand Old Opry moved to it's new location quite a few years ago, but we were surprised to find that the Ryman is still used by all kinds of bands, from country to hard rock. Wish we could have been there for a live performance - maybe next time.

The Great Smoky Mountains

What a beautiful ride through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We spent a couple of days in Pidgeon Forge and Gatlinburg, then on to the mountains.

Savannah, GA
April 15, 2014
This was our second visit to Savannah, and we'll probably visit again sometime. Just a beautiful area. So much more to see.

We had a beautiful campsite on the river.

The bus tour was the way to go. Next time we'll know what to go back and take a closer look at. We couldn't possibly have walked it all.

Florida
View from the deck just down from our campsite.
While in Florida, we watched a rocket launch from Cape Canaveral. That was awesome. Just stopped on the side of the road and watched..
And visited Clearwater Beach, one of our favorite places.
New Orleans, LA
On our way to New Orleans, we spent a night a Barksdale AFB, LA. Mike hadn't been there for many years, and I never had, so we made a point to add it to the trip
View from the ferry across the Mississippi on our way to the French Quarter.
New Orleans skyline.
St Louis Cathedral overlooking Jackson Square in the French Quarter.
Impromptu parades spring up all over the city (this one on Bourbon Street) leading up the "Fat Tuesday".
Some have more fun throwing the beads than walking in the parade.
Everyone wanted their say.
There are some huge barges on the Mississippi.
Some of the old homes were built very narrow, but very long from front to back..
Fats Domino's former home in the 9th Ward.
Brad Pitt's organization and others have funded the building of a lot
of new homes. They're built to be more hurricane resistant.
Some odd things regarding its location. For instance, the West Bank section is actually on the east side of the river; and the sign above, showing that two streets, each going south, actually cross each other at one point in the city
