Back to Pensacola (Milton), FL on Tuesday, and it felt like we were going home. We've liked Milton since our first visit, maybe because the campground is so nice, but also because Milton is such a nice town. One end of it is the "original" section, with historical buildings, etc., then as you leave town it becomes more modern, with the standard shopping, restaurants, etc. It's also the county seat (Santa Rosa), so I think that has something to do with its appeal.
We were here for a few days, trying to complete all the paperwork changing our residency to Florida (driver's licenses, voter registrations, vehicle registrations). Strictly from an economic standpoint, becoming Florida residents was a no-brainer. But not to worry, our license plates say "MAYNR"!
The Maine license plates have been a real ice-breaker at the campgrounds, rest stops, etc., and we really didn't want to lose that. Hopefully people will get it.
While here, we checked out the campgrounds at NAS Pensacola, Hurlburt Field, and Eglin AFB so that we'll have a better idea when our travels bring us back this way. None of them come close to the KOA we've been staying in (below), but they'll do. Can't beat their views, though - overlooking the Gulf.
