Today we visited the site of the crash of Flight 93 on 9/11/2001 in Shanksville, PA. It was very moving, as expected. So much thought went into the memorial, with more plans for the future. There were information boards detailing the timeline, identifying those aboard, and a lot more info. (For instance, I learned that the last few minutes of the flight, the plane was upside down before impact). Cannot even imagine the horror. And I wasn't aware that the captain had been moved to the back of the plane during the takeover. And it does make me wonder if I would have been ready/willing to participate in storming the cabin to try to take back control of the plane. Fortunately, those on the plane that day were brave enough to take action. There was a small building where visitors were allowed to post thoughts/messages on a board, and we had an opportunity to ask the Park Ranger questions about the setup of the memorial.
