December 30, 2013 The Pacific Coast Highway was top on our list of things to experience in California.
We arrived in Monterey and spent the night at the Naval Postgraduate School lodging. We visited the Monterey Pier and marina, and the next day started our drive south. We stopped in Carmel - quite the tourist town - and visited the beach, but didn't see any sign of Clint Eastwood, (the former Mayor).
As we drove south, we enjoyed beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean along the highway: Pebble Beach Golf Course, the iconic Bixby Bridge, Big Sur, and on to Elephant Seals Beach. During this part of our trip we stayed at Vandenburg AFB.
