Day 7, Monday  09/26/2011

Sun's shining today, so everything is right with the world - though last night it was raining so hard, it sounded like hail.  Left the Middlebury KOA campground and backtracked about an hour this morning to get to the Crossroads Cruiser factory for the tour.  Turns out we were the only ones there, so we were escorted by none other than Tony, the same Crossroads rep who showed us the Cruiser at the Boston camper expo last winter. Enjoyed learning about how the camper was made and some changes they've made to those sold even more recently.  Also learned some interesting facts about the Amish, who make up the largest group of employees at the factory.  Kelly will love this:  Crossroads has only fired/hired 5 employees in the last 12 years!  Also, everyone earns the same wages, whether they push a broom or are a skilled journeyman.  That's the way the Amish wanted it, so that's what Crossroads does.

Left the factory, and traveled around the beautiful Amish countryside for a couple of hours to reach Camp Timberlake in Huntington, IL.  Mike hit the jackpot with this one.  It's just beautiful, as you can see from the pictures, and the weather's so nice, I've even been able to sit outside and read.
Yes, regular gas is $3.37/gallon - can you believe it?  So who can possibly explain why it's so much more expensive in the northeast?
Tomorrow we're on to Scott AFB, IL, where we'll stay for a couple of days to catch our breath.  After that, it's Branson, MO.  Looking forward to some R&R on this adventure.  :-)
