Day 17, Thursday 10/06/2011
I feel like I'm back in Lewiston - the winds were so high in Albuquerque today that none of the balloons got off the ground, and it's not expected to be any better tomorrow. Of course, we're leaving Saturday morning.....
Anyway, we did make the trip to Santa Fe, the state capital, and it is a real contrast between the old and the new. The new part of the city is like any other, lots of traffic, stores, etc., but the old part of the city is really lovely. Typical southwestern theme with adobe buildings, bright colors, narrow streets, etc.. We'd like to go back when it's not so cold and windy so that we can walk around and look in some of the shops. I'd really like to get inside some of those tiny adobe houses. I tried to attach a couple of pictures, but for some reason it didn't work tonight. I'll try later or tomorrow. The pictures are of the Sandia mountains that ring Albuquerque. As usual, pictures don't really do them justice, but you'll get some idea of the view we had on the trip today. The other picture is from the center of the old part of Santa Fe; the small adobes I mentioned are away from the square and throughout the town.

I was wondering how the weather was for you guys because I had a patient today that was talking about the weather in that area. The picture of the campground from Amarillo looked like a shot out of a horror flick just before the music starts.LOL
Love you
