12/23/2011 - After our weekend got off to a shaky start yesterday, we had a great day today.  We went into Coronado for breakfast at Clayton's Coffee Shop.  It's a small restaurant (think Bethel Spa) with some booths and a counter with swivel seats.  Everything was right out of the 50s/60s, including juke boxes at each booth and around the counter as well.  And the food was fabulous!

Next, we boarded a trolley that took us all around the San Diego area, including Balboa Park where the San Diego Zoo is located, along with lots of other interesting info:  classic cars, museums, and beautiful grounds to explore.  We also went to Coronado Beach, rated 2nd best in the country this year - beautiful!, Little Italy, Gaslamp Quarter, and Seaport Village. I've included some pictures of Seaport Village, a pretty little village on the beach with lots of small shops, vendors, etc.   If the weather is as beautiful as it was today, it will be a great day to be out and about.  Also some pictures from the San Diego Bay Bridge (284 feet up from the water) - THAT was interesting.  Anyway, today was a good chance to check things out, and tomorrow we'll go exploring on our own.

The harbor in San Diego.  You can just see the bridge in the background.

Shops and fountain at Seaport with the ocean in the background.

Sidewalk entertainment (balloon animals, fortune tellers, this guy puts live parrots on your shoulders for a picture!  : )

Imagine!  Don't know what he does on a windy day.

A poinsettia Christmas tree - beautiful!

A view from the bridge.

Hope everyone's ready for Christmas so that you can relax and enjoy Christmas Eve!

We were really happy to find out that the zoo is open Christmas Day, so we're saving that for Sunday.
