03/22-23/2012

We moved on to New Orleans, as we had planned to spend a few days there, but once again, the weather ruled.

We arrived at the campground at NAS New Orleans, only to discover that they were just starting an exercise, so they had closed down all of the MWR facilities, commissary, BX, etc.  We made our way to the campground, got set up, and headed down to the city.  We took a quick drive around, but really didn't get to see much, so we definitely plan to make this a stop another time.

Got back to the camper and went to bed, and next thing we knew we were in the middle of the hardest, longest rain storm I've ever heard.  It just didn't let up.  And there was thunder, but the lightning was almost constant.  It was quite a light show, but it made it really difficult to sleep.  At that point, we decided we'd better make it Florida as soon as we could and hope the weather would improve.  Woke up the next morning, and one of the roads out of the campground as well as all around our camper and most others, were under water.  But we were still dry, so we headed out.
