Trail Lakes Campground |
What a day in the everglades! We arrived at the Trail Lakes Campground yesterday afternoon, and spent the afternoon in the Big Cypress National Preserve. WOW ! We took the scenic loop off of US41, and what a ride. We saw over 100 alligators, most of them in their natural surroundings. We started at the Visitor Center, and were pretty excited to see about 30 of them along the banks of the canal. But then from the scenic loop we saw dozens more (without a bridge to view them from) along with a family of racoons (SO cute!) and pink flamingos (the real thing).

Guess the 'gator wasn't hungry...... |
Today the plan is to take an air boat ride through the everglades, if they don't want an arm and leg for it (OOPS - wrong turn of phrase). On to Lake Okeechobee tomorrow where hopefully Mike will get to do some fishing.
