Kewaunee, Lambeau Field, and Wisconsin Dells

July 18-20 2013

Arrived at the Kewaunee Village RV Park in Wisconsin on Thursday afternoon.  Kewaunee is on Lake Michigan, and and it's a nice quiet town.

The marina area is beautiful, but it's difficult to get pictures as most of the property on the lakeshore is private (as usual).

The drive there was mostly through farm country, saw some beautiful farms and lots of corn and wheat fields.
Spent a quiet evening, then Friday morning we we headed out to do some errands in Green Bay.  Green Bay wasn't as big a city as we both expected, but we still ended up seeing a little more of the city than we planned, and some spots we saw several times.  : )    But we did do some shopping, and went to Lambeau Field, home of the Packers.  We didn't expect to be able to enter the stadium, but the ground floor concession area and store were open, so we were able to get a feel for what it would be like on game day.  When I see those stadiums on TV, I always assume there are major highways that lead right to them, and I guess I never expected to see homes within a few hundred yards of the stadium, but there were neighborhoods all around it. I can't imagine what it would be like for them on game day with tens of thousands of people in their back yard.

Today we drove to Country Roads Campground in the Wisconsin Dells.  It's named for the "dells" or narrowing of the river. From what we had read, we expected to find a quiet little town with a river running through it, and we had planned to take the boat tour of the dells and sandstone formations - until we arrived, and drove through town.  This place is so much more than the dells.  It's about 5 miles of hotels, restaurants, shopping, water parks, pools, roller coasters, mini golf, all kinds of amusements - on both sides of the street.  It truly is like OOB on steroids!

I told Mike he deserved a medal for driving the camper through this area unexpectedly, with people crossing the street, cars cutting us off, etc.  But we made it to the Country Roads campground, ate out at the picnic table, and played some cards to relax.  We'll go exploring tomorrow.  I don't expect we'll go on any of the rides, but we will be taking the boat tour of the dells, and I'm sure we'll find something else to keep up busy as well.
