Chamberlain, SD

August 4-6, 2013

Arrived at the Cedar Shores Resort/RV Park on Sunday.  It's a nice enough park, but there aren't very many people, here or at the resort.  This was meant to be a chance to recharge, and it worked.  We're right on the Missouri River.  The 3rd picture below shows the resort from the other side of the river.  In the 4th picture, we're down in the left lower corner.

Chamberlain is a small town, with the river running through it and beautiful rolling hills all around.

This picture below shows the two bridges connecting the town.  The bridge on top in the picture is I-90, on the bottom is the local bridge.  (It's a little difficult to separate them in this picture).

Yesterday we toured around, and saw some beautiful scenery.  We also went to the "Golden Bear Casino" in the middle of nowhere, about 20 miles from here.  The farther we got from town, the more we wondered what we'd find.  Let's just say it wasn't worth the trip.  They allow smoking in the casinos here, so we took a quick tour and left.  But it was obviously in the middle of an Indian reservation, and also obviously very popular with the locals.

Last night we enjoyed a drink at one of the finer establishments in town........
And look forward to our next stop.........
