Spearfish Scenic Byway

There's some beautiful country here in South Dakota.  Every day there's something new to see, and we won't be here long enough to see it all.  But we're doing our best...

Today we took the Spearfish Scenic Byway in yet another section of the Black Hills, including Roughlock Falls.  I'm told that the final scene from Kevin Costner's "Dancing With Wolves" was filmed at those falls.  I'll have to watch the movie again to refresh my memory.

 On the way home we went through the Wild West town of Deadwood, and of course we couldn't resist going back to Sturgis for a few more laughs.  So we had a drink on the balcony of  the Easy Riders saloon and "people watched".  So much fun.  So the final tally of the rally was 54 DUIs, hundreds of drug arrests, and 6 fatalities.  Obviously there was a lot going on that we never saw, and we never got any particulars on the fatalities, but apparently the numbers were down from last year (!!!!)
